Saturday, January 31, 2015William H. "Buddy" Akins Jr., 29, of Palatka, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015 at Putnam Community Medical Center.
He was born in St. Augustine and had been a lifelong resident of Putnam County. Buddy was a 2004 graduate of Palatka High School, where he had played on the football team and had worked for Nicholson Ice and Air Conditioning since 2002. He enjoyed mud bogging, hunting and fishing. Buddy especially loved his children. They were his life.
He is survived by his wife of seven years, Mary Akins, children, Makiyah Cheyenne and Adalina Sunshine Akins, parents, William and Patsy Akins, brother, Buskel Keene, grandmother, Eleanor Dupont, employer and special friend, Kenny Nicholson, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Brother William James officiating. Private family burial will follow in Espanola Cemetery in Bunnell.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 2. Flowers are gratefully accepted or memorial donations may be made to the family
Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
