Robert Boyce Atkinson, 57, formerly of Mystic, CT, passed away in his hometown of Bunnell, Florida on Friday, July 1, 2016. He was born in Daytona Beach, Florida to (the late), William “Harry” Atkinson, III and Carol Jean Moody Atkinson, Bunnell, FL.
He leaves behind Catherine Melody Atkinson of Mystic, CT and their two children, Ryan Boyce Atkinson (Natalie Bacon, fiancé) of Groton, CT and Victoria Elise Gendron (Matt) of Jewett City, CT, including his two brothers, William Harry “Mickey” Atkinson, IV (Lee) of Thomasville, GA, Miles Reed Atkinson of Bunnell, FL and step-sister, Janet Peavy Roberts (Richard) of Ormond Beach, FL; including many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Also remaining is his dear cousin and fishing buddies, Rhonda Y. Pellicer and Carla Tucker.
After graduating from Flagler Palm Coast High School in 1977, Boyce proudly served 4 years in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Virginia and was stationed in the Indian Ocean during the Iran Hostage Crisis. He worked for the National Security Agency in Maryland. In 2015, he retired from a 30+ year career at Millstone Power Station in Waterford, CT. NASCAR, fishing, and spending time at Flagler Beach were his favorite pastimes, in addition to coaching his children’s baseball, softball and basketball teams in their youth.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Church On the Rock, 2200 N State St, Bunnell, FL 32110 with Pastor Bruce Laurent officiating.
Memorial donations in Boyce’s honor can be made to Flagler Humane Society, 1 Shelter Dr., Palm Coast, FL 32137.
