THE FLAGLER TRIBUNE
Bunnell, Florida
Thursday, October 24, 1935
Father Time claimed another of the old pioneer residents of Bunnell. This time it is William H. Bacher, 75-year-old man who came to Bunnell in September 1913 from Waverly, Iowa. Mr. Bacher was born in Shell Rock, Iowa before residing at Waverly.
Engaging in business here upon his arrival, he continued up to a few weeks ago when he was forced to relinquish his duties. He was taken to a hospital in St. Augustine for an operation a few days before his death, which occurred in the hospital there.
He was a member of the local Masonic lodge and was its treasurer for a number of years, and a member of the Evangelical church in his home state:
During his years in business here became intimately acquainted with almost every resident of this county, over a hundred of which paid their last respect Sunday when he was buried at Espanola cemetery, after a simple funeral service was held his home, Rev. J. E. Jenkins and Rev. J. S. Taylor conducting the service.
The body was laid to rest by his brethren of the Masonic lodge, with Charles Hyde of Palatka delivering the oration at the grave.
He was a tireless worker, each weekday finding him at his post of duty, always cheerful and ready to render a friend a favor. His tastes were simple, finding most of his pleasure in innocent amusements and reading.
He is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. W. C. Sullivan, both of who live here, and one son Louis C. Bacher of St. Louis, Missouri, who came to Bunnell for the last rites.
