Frank L. Byrd, Of Bunnell, Dies; Services Thursday

Frank L. Byrd, a leading citizen of Bunnell, died early yesterday afternoon in a Daytona Beach hospital following a short illness. He was owner and operator of the Halcyon Hotel at Bunnell and was a former State Representative from Flagler County. He was 79 years of age.

Mr. Byrd had lived in Bunnell for the past 36 years, moving there from Hastings. While residing in Hastings he owned and' operated a bank there. He was a member of the Bunnell Methodist Church and the Bunnell Lodge, F. and A.M.

Surviving is a niece, Miss Kate Gresham of Daytona Beach; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Billie Graham McIntosh of Bunnell, and two nieces residing in Tampa.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Halcyon Hotel in Bunnell with the Rev. Mr. Murdock, pastor of the Bunnell Methodist Church, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Carr of the Bunnell Baptist Church.

Interment will be in the family lot in the Espanola Cemetery with the Garcia Funeral Home of this city in charge of arrangements.

Deaths - Frank L. Byrd

Frank L. Byrd, 79, of Bunnell died yesterday afternoon at Halifax Hospital. He was born in Crescent City but his parents moved to Georgia when he was a boy. He made his home in Bunnell in 1910 and was in the real estate and insurance business there.

Survivors include a niece. Mrs. Kate Gresham of Daytona Beach, two nieces in Tampa: and a sister in law, Mrs. John McIntosh of Bunnell.

Garcia Funeral Home (St. Augustine) is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Services will be held at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at his home.

Funeral services for Frank L. Byrd, 79, who died in Halifax hospital in Daytona Beach Tuesday afternoon, will be held from his home in Halcyon Hotel this afternoon at 2:30, with Rev. H. B. Murdock, and Rev. Robert Carr, former and present pastors, respectively, of the Methodist Church here, officiating.

Mr. Byrd, who was born in Crescent City but spent most of his boyhood in Georgia, came to Bunnell from Hastings where he was cashier in a bank, 38 years ago. He has owned and operated the Halcyon Hotel for more than 30 years.

Mr. Byrd was active in the political life of Flagler county since he first became a resident, in addition to being mayor of the town a number of times, he represented Flagler county in the lower house of the legislature in 1923, 1925, 1927 and 1933.

He was a member of the local Methodist Church and the Masonic fraternity.

Interment will be made in Espanola Cemetery with Garcia Funeral Home of St. Augustine in charge.

Surviving are two nephews, Graham Wright, Crawfordville, Ga., and Boykin Wright of Augusta, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. J. N. McIntosh, Bunnell; four nieces, Miss Kate Gresham, Daytona Beach; Mrs. Beulah Frances Lovern, Dothan, Ala., and two nieces in Tampa.

Pallbearers are John C. Rice, J. F. Mercer, M. B. Fuller, G. L. Biddle, Henry Wells and Paul Stanish.
