JUDGE DUANE DEEN

BUNNELL - - Duane A. Deen, 74, North Railroad Street, a former judge, died Saturday at Memorial Hospital.

Judge Deen was born and raised in Flagler County. He was a Flagler County judge in all courts comprising the Florida's 7th Judicial Circuit for 12 years. He was a former justice of the peace and former head coach and teacher at Bunnell High School.  He was also an 11-year member of the Advisory Committee for Daytona Beach Community College and former Chairman of the Flagler County Boys State Committee.
           
A Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Deen was past commander of the Flagler County American Legion Post.  He was a charter member of the Bunnell First Baptist Church, the Central Baptist Church, Palm Coast, and most recently the St. Johns Park Baptist Church.
           
Survivors include his wife, Luellen;  two daughters, Elaine Vaughn, Umatilla, and Sue Ellen Deen, Bunnell;  a brother, June Deen, Flagler Beach;  a half brother, Stanley Deen, Bunnell;  two half-sisters, Frances Wetherington, Bunnell, and Naomi Hoffman, Merritt Island; and three grandchildren.

DEEN, DUANE A. – Service for Duane A. Deen, 74, North Railroad St., Bunnell, who died Saturday at Memorial Hospital, will be 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. T. Shelton Brooks, assisted by Dr. Kenneth Gaskin and Rev. Herbert White. Interment will be in Espanola Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.

Mr. Deen was born and raised in Flagler County. He was very civic minded and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a charter member of Bunnell First Baptist Church, Central Baptist Church and St. Johns Park Baptist Church.

Mr. Deen was a Flagler County judge in the 7th Judicial Circuit for 12 years. He was also a former justice of the peace, former head coach and teacher at Bunnell High School, and an 11-year member of the Advisory Committee for Daytona Beach Community College. He was past commander of the American Legion post in Flagler County and a former Boys’ State Chairman.

Survivors include his wife, Luellen, two daughters, Elaine Vaughn, Umatilla and Sue Ellen Deen, Flagler Beach; a brother, June Deen, Flagler Beach; a half-brother, Stanley, Bunnell; two half-sisters, Frances Wetherington, Bunnell, and Naomi Hoffman, Merritt Island; and three grandsons.
