BUNNELL - Helen Cody Deen. 86, of East Palm Street, a lifelong resident of this area died Friday at home.

Mrs. Deen, a homemaker, was born in DuPont. She was a member of First Methodist Church of Bunnell: a charter member of United Daughters of the Confederacy, Joseph Eggleston-Johnston Chapter, where she served as register for 33 years; a charter member or the Pioneers of Bunnell; and a charter member of Flagler County, Historical Society. She also enjoyed playing contract bridge.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Cowart and Sondra Wall; and a brother, L. S. Cody, all of Bunnell; a sister, Lillian Wilson, St. Augustine; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

DEEN, HELEN -- Funeral service for Helen Deen, 86, East Palm Street, Bunnell, who died Friday, June 20, 1997 (at home) will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Bunnell First Methodist Church with the Rev Lawrence Dittner, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Espanola Cemetery.

Pall bears will be Deen Wall, Chuck Cowart, Guy Motsinger, Travis Ford, Keith Hurst, and Charles Crews.  There will be no visiting hours.

Mrs. Deen was the daughter of Flagler County pioneer residents, Lawrence and Mary Cody and was born in Dupont.  She was a lifelong resident of Flagler County.  Mrs. Deen was a member of the Bunnell United Methodist Church, and a charter member of the Joseph Eggleston Johnston Chapter of The United Daughters of the Confederacy, where she served as registrar for 33 years.

She was also a charter member of both the Pioneers of Bunnell and the Flagler County Historical Society and enjoyed playing bridge.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Cowart and Sondra Wall, both of Bunnell; one sister, Lillian Wilson, St Augustine, one brother, L. S. Cody, Bunnell; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

In lieu of other remembrances, the family requests donations be made in her memory to either the Bunnell First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 335, Bunnell, FL 32110, or the Pioneers of Bunnell, c/o Audrey McKnight, 333 North Tenth Street, Flagler Beach, FL 32136.
