THE FLAGLER TRIBUNE
Bunnell, Florida
Thursday, August 18, 1932

Billie Boe, 25 month old son of Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Gist, died of blood poisoning while a patient in Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine at 11 o’clock Monday morning.

The child became ill Thursday last and was carried to the hospital Saturday, blood poisoning having already set up. An operation was performed but the poison could not be stopped. The father of the child said the only point on the child’s body, which could be found where the infection may have set up, was a small scratch between its toes.

The body was prepared for burial by the Craig Funeral Home of St. Augustine, and funeral services from the First Baptist church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. J. M. DeVette, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment was made that afternoon in Espanola Cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Gist and their family of five children, four boys and one girl, came to Bunnell about five months ago from Scottsboro, Alabama, Mr. Gist taking the place here of Claude Jones as carrier on rural mail route No. 1.
