Bertha M. Grimes, 88, 189 San Marco Ave. St. Augustine, died Sunday in St. Augustine.

Mrs. Grimes was born in Adams Run, S. C, and was a pioneer of St. Johns County from Georgia.

She was an active member of the Bunnell First Baptist Church, and is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Pearl Kercheval, Elkton, Mrs. Camilla McKnight, Bunnell, Mrs. Johnnie Mercer, Holly Hill, S.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Addie Martin. Young’s Island, S.C., Mrs. Lake Acherman, Cottageville, S.C.; one brother, Riggs Martin, Young’s Island, S.C.; nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Wednesday at the Bunnell First Baptist Church with the Rev. Hollis Bass, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Espanola Cemetery.
