Z. G. Holland, 64.year-old pioneer citizen of the St. Johns Park section of this county, died at his home Wednesday evening, May 7, at 7:07 o'clock after an illness of several months.

Mr. Holland was born in Freemont, North Carolina, but has lived here since 1903, where he was engaged in farming.

He was, for more than 20 years, actively identified with the political life of Flagler County, having served 20 years as county commissioner from his home district after the creation of Flagler County in 1917.

Mr. Holland was one of the group who took an active part in helping to create Flagler County from St. Johns and Volusia and working for its development.

Mr. Holland was a member of the Methodist church, and served as an officer of the Haw Creek church until it was merged with the Bunnell church a few years ago.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Bunnell Methodist Church, of which he was a member with Rev. W. T. Brantley, pastor of the local church, in charge. Burial services will follow at Espanola Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maud Holland; five daughters, Mrs. J. A. McDowall, of Jacksonville; Mrs. Hoke Cobb and Mrs. Travis Chambers of Gainesville; Mrs. George Giebert and Mrs. Cordell Robertson of Bunnell; three sons, Z. D. Holland, Z. G. Holland, Jr., of Bunnell; and David Holland of Camp Blanding, Florida. Also one brother, Joe Holland of Nashville, Georgia, and one sister, Mrs. Mamie Brown of Lumama, North Carolina. Also surviving are six grand children.

Pallbearers are: Joe Harding, John Buckles, Dale B. Brown, It. W. Deen, Sr., Eddie Pellicer and E. A. Hunter.

FLAGLER COUNTY PIONEER IS DEAD

Bunnell, May 8 - Zachary G Holland, 64, Flagler county pioneer, died at the family home in the St Johns park section at 7 o'clock last night. Holland who was engaged in farming, had resided in Flagler county for 38 years and was a former county commissioner from the St Johns Park district.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Flora M. Holland; three sons, Z. D. and Z. G., Jr, Bunnell, and David Holland, now at Camp Blanding and five daughters, Mrs. H. S. Cobb and Mrs. T. P. Chambers, Gainesville; Mrs. George Giebert Bunnell, and Mrs. J. A. McDowall, Jacksonville.

Final arrangements are in charge of the McCabe Funeral home, St Augustine.
