Howard L. Hunter, 86, was born in Espanola, FL, January 6, 1924; the last remaining son of E. A. Hunter, cattleman and Fanner of Flagler County.

Howard graduated from Bunnell High in 1941, winning a football scholarship to Western KY University. He joined the Navy instead in 1942, and spent time in the pacific theatre until the end of the war.

Returning to Florida he went back to school and in 1949 married Barbara Jesse Edenfield. They farmed in Bunnell, Hastings and Stuart and in 1960 moved to Orlando to work for an Engineering firm, where they raised their sons. Howard worked in structural engineering at Cape Canaveral and Walt Disney World until he retired in 1989 and moved home to Espanola.

He is survived by sons, Ron Hunter and Lew Hunter and Lew's wife, Andrea of England; and two grandsons, Ethan and Garret, all of Espanola.

Services will be today (Saturday, November 20, 2010) at 2 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 100 Whiteview Parkway, Palm Coast, FL.
