BUNNELL - - Murtice R Moody, 79, Orlando, a pioneer resident of Flagler County, died Friday at her home.

A native of Appling County, GA, Mrs. Moody moved to this area in 1902 from Baxley, Ga. She was the widow of Dewey D. Moody, the first Flagler County surveyor and county tax assessor for more than 40 years.

Mrs. Moody moved to Orlando in 1965. She was a member of Bunnell First United Methodist Church and a former member of Order of Eastern Star, Colony Club and the Idlewood Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Iona and Juanita Moody, both now of Orlando.

Murtice R. Moody, 79, Orlando, died Friday at her home. Mrs. Moody was a pioneer resident of Flagler County, moving to this area in 1902 from Baxley, Ga. She was the widow of Dewey D. Moody, the first Flagler County surveyor and County Tax Assessor for more than 40 years. She moved to Orlando in 1965.

Survivors include two daughters, Iona and Juanita Moody, both of Orlando; and several nieces and nephews. She was a former member of the Order of The Eastern Star and the Colony Club.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Bunnell First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ed Murfin officiating. Interment was in the Espanola Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Shelton Barber, Buddy West, Ronald Logan, William Leonard, Cliff McGriff, and Tommy Durrance.

Honorary pallbearers were Phil Johnson, John Seay, Rob Deen, Lee Blakely, Coy Harris, John Rice, Dale Brown, Ray Mercer, Robert Moody, Levi Brannam, Ed Buckner, Lawrence Dahlquist, Hub Frier, P. A. Edmonson, Duane Deen, Stanley Germack, John A. Clegg, C. B. Eisenbach, Benny Black, George Moody, Gene Barber, Dr. John Canakaris, H. T. Cook, Raymond Smith, Lewis Wadsworth, C. B. Cowart, Otis Hunter, and George Wickline.
