Dorothy Catherine Salyerds, 93, of Bunnell, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Halifax Health Hospice Ormond Beach Care Center following an extended illness. She was a native of Seville, Florida and had lived in Flagler County for the past 74 years coming from Pierson.

Dorothy was the oldest grandchild of Ollie Cowart and the oldest child of Clarence and Eula Stone. She drove a school bus for Flagler County School system and worked in the cafeteria of Bunnell High School. She also worked as an operator for Southern Bell Telephone Company in Jacksonville. Dorothy enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, counted cross stitch and coloring.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Thomas A. Salyerds, parents, Lester Stone and Eula Cowart Stone, brothers, Lester Stone and Lloyd Stone, sister, Louise Haddaway and 2 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Alvin Salyerds (Sarah) of Bunnell, Janet Council (R.E.) of Pierson and Sharon Smith (Jerald) of Mt. Pleasant, NC, brother, Robert Stone (Alma) of Pierson, 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Espanola Cemetery with Philip Farrin and Leslie Pulley officiating. No visitation has been scheduled.

Flowers are gratefully accepted, or memorial donations may be sent to Halifax Hospice, 235 Booth Rd, Ormond Beach, FL 32174.

Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
