J. W. Thornton, 46, died at his home here Tuesday morning at 9:30 after a short illness, the cause of death being attributed to heart disease.

Mr. Thornton was a native of Adel, Georgia, but has been a resident of this section for the past six years.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lucy Thornton, two daughters, Mrs. Mae Dempsey, and Mrs. Lillie Watkins; Also two sons, Lacy and Oscar and one grandson; Toy Dempsey.

Funeral and burial was held at the Espanola Cemetery Wednesday afternoon.
