Beth Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in Espanola Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 7 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church of Bunnell.

Mrs. Walker, passed away on April 2, 2011 in Athens GA after a short battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Zora Joiner Vickery and James Vickery, homesteader and turpentine foreman who brought his family to Flagler County in the 1930's. She graduated from Middle Georgia College where she played on the women's basketball team.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Lee Walker; as well as her beloved dogs, Nasty, Pepsi, and Bones; and her not-so beloved one-eyed cat, Tommy.

She is survived by her children, Nancy Walker Bayless (David) of Hendersonville, NC, R. Russell Walker (Barbara) of Oak Hill FL and Janet Walker Mooney (Randy) of Winder GA; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 4 of her 6 sisters, Donnis DeGerald of Port Orange FL, Drew Mae Schweitzer of Charlotte NC, Delores Ryan of New Smyrna Beach FL and Devonne Joiner of Lennox GA.

She enjoyed tending flowers especially her prized Azaleas, fishing and sharing stories with family and friends, like good friend Joy Wetherington and Ted Doss. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bunnell, The Great Granddaughters of the Confederacy Club, Florida Division, Flagler Women's Club, Flagler County Pioneers, the Bunnell and Flagler Beach Historical Societies and the Espanola Cemetery Association.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church PO Box 335 Bunnell FL 32110 or the Middle Georgia College, Cochran GA.
