BUNNELL -- Ethel Lee Whitaker, 98, of North Moore Street, a longtime resident, died Tuesday at an assisted living facility in Palm Coast.

Mrs. Whitaker, a homemaker, was born in Pansy, Ala., and moved to this area in 1920. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bunnell. She enjoyed flower gardening.

Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Mercer, Bunnell, and Samuella Friedman, DeLand; a step-daughter, Mary Fleetwood, San Mateo; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

WHITAKER, ETHEL LEE-Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2003, at Espanola Cemetery for Ethel Lee Whitaker, 98, Bunnell, who died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, at an assisted living facility in Palm Coast. The Rev. Beth Gardner, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Bunnell, will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, at Craig Funeral Home, 51 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach.

Mrs. Whitaker was, born in Pansy, Ala., March 25, 1905, a daughter of Sampson F. and Daisy Lee Anglin Cook. She had been a resident of Bunnell since 1920. Mrs. Whitaker was a member of First Baptist Church of Bunnell, and enjoyed working in her flower garden.

Mrs. Whitaker was pre-deceased by her husband, Louie M. Whitaker, in 1965, two daughters, Billie Dorsey and Daisy Moody, and her sister, Adelene McNeal.

Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Mercer, Bunnell, and Samuella Friedman, DeLand; step-daughter, Mary Louie Fleetwood, San Mateo; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
