John Grady White

http://mi-cache.legacy.com/legacy/images/Cobrands/News-JournalOnline/Photos/WhiteJo_JOHN_WHITE_112609.jpgFuneral services for John Grady White, 76, of Bunnell, who passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Florida Hospital Flagler, will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the Westside Baptist Church, 3559 Canal Ave, Bunnell, FL. His family will receive friends on Friday, November 27, 2009 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Rd. S., Flagler Beach. Burial will follow the funeral service at Espanola Cemetery, Espanola, FL.

John was born on April 10, 1933 in Blountstown, FL to the late Laura Lorain White (Doc) and Nancy Elizabeth (Roberts) White. He was a Veteran of the US Army and the Korean War. John retired in 1986 from Local Union 302 where he served as a Union Steward. He also worked as a Superintendent for Tomoka Construction and he worked at Austin Outdoors. He moved to the Volusia/Flagler area in 1950, coming from Blountstown, FL., and then he moved to Bunnell in 1979 coming from Pierson.

John is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Janice White of Bunnell. Additional survivors include his son, Jerry White of Fairbanks, Alaska; his son, Larry White of Biloxi, Miss.; his daughter, Cyndy Gathings and her husband, Roger of Biloxi, Miss.; his son, Buddy White and his wife, Theresa of Espanola; his daughter, Katarina White of Espanola; his two step-sons, Travis Spence of Astor, FL and Tracey Spence of DeLand, FL; his daughter-in-law, Pam White of Bunnell; his sister-in-law, Betty White of Blountstown, FL; his six grandchildren, Stephen, Sammy, Joshua, Jessica, Sarah, and Kimberly; and his five step-grandchildren, Chris, Christopher, Chesly, Kevin, and Kelly.

He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Sammy Lee Roberts, Herman (Bud) White, and Lawrence (Spook) White.

He will be remembered for his quick wit and his wonderful sense of humor. Memorial donations may be made in memory of John to the American Cancer Society, 1737 N. Clyde Morris Blvd., Suite 140, Daytona Beach, FL 32117.
