Born in Middlebourne, West Virginia to Claudis Troy Wilcox and Margaret Isabelle Yoho Wilcox, he eventually moved to Flagler County in 1970 from Melbourne, Florida.

Dan was the chief surveyor of record for the ITT Community Development. He was responsible for the surveying of thousands of parcels of land in Flagler County when Palm Coast was the fastest growing development in the country. Dan was also the owner and operator of Stephenson Wilcox Surveying, Inc. He was registered to do surveying not only in Florida but also in Georgia and North Carolina. Dan was a member of the Florida Surveying and Mappers Society (FSMS), the American Motorcycle Association (AMA) and the National Rifle Association (NRA).

He was an active member of the Bunnell Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In addition to being dedicated to his work, Dan also enjoyed a variety of past-times including watching Flat Track Motorcycle Racing, trapping (in West Virginia), Indian Artifacts, fly fishing using his own home-made rods and lures and enjoyed traveling to Bluegrass Festivals.

He was also quite a History buff and many a conversation led into his favorite stories of Presidents Washington and Lincoln! Dan's influence on his family and those around him will continue to be embedded in their hearts and minds for years to come.

Dan is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Juna "Pepi" Wilcox of Bunnell, his children, Dawn A. Kinney (Matt) of Bunnell, Dan A. Wilcox, Jr. (Dione) of Bunnell, Troy Wilcox (Sage) of Bunnell, Melissa Salyerds (Brian) of Bunnell, Amy Ward (Keith) of Palm Coast and Sarah Gunnels (Mitchell) of Ellijay, GA, a sister, Sally Huhn (Ron) of Melbourne, 21 grandchildren, Lacie Zimmerle, Dalton Kinney, Taylor Kinney, Wyatt Kinney, Hailey Wilcox, Hunter Wilcox, Aurelia Wilcox, Summer Wilcox, Jessica Wilcox, David Wilcox, Victoria Wilcox, Mary Wilcox, Stephen Wilcox, Lakin Salyerds, Brian Salyerds, Jr., Levi Salyerds, Chase Ward, Kennedy Ward, Paige Ward, Natalie Gunnels and Brock Gunnels as well as five great-grandchildren, Rylee Zimmerle, Wade Zimmerle, Alyssa Verdel, Zoey Zimmerle and Kasen Ward.

Dan is also survived by a niece, Kristy Sellers Long and several other nieces and nephews.

Services will be held in Bunnell at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. On Monday, December 5, 2016, the family will receive friends from 2:30 P.M. until 4:30 P.M.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. and burial will follow at Espanola Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
