Robert M. Abbott

Abbott, of Palm Coast, passed away peacefully at his home after a long illness on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the age of 70. Robert was born on January 7, 1946 in Camden, New Jersey to the late Jack and Susie Abbott and was raised in Flagler Beach.

He graduated from Bunnell High School in the class of 1964. Robert was a proud member of the United States Navy, retiring with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He protected our country for 20 years. He also served as a Flagler County Commissioner. Robert loved to fish and could often be found on the Flagler pier enjoying that hobby before becoming ill.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Paquita Hugas Abbott, his daughters, Mindy Abbott Diggan and her husband, Jeff. Robin Abbott Moore and her fiance, Brian Konopka, his grandchildren, Katelyn Diggan Norris, Tyler Diggan, Ashleigh Abbott Cellini, Chad Diggan, Brittany Moore Abbott, Michael Moore Abbott, and his great-grandson, Wyatt Norris, his siblings, Jack Abbott and his wife, Sandy of Ormond Beach, Dale Abbott and his partner, John Bourne of Gatlinburg, TN, Sandra Pijot and her husband, David of Ormond Beach, Michael Abbott and his partner, Todd Scala of Winter Park and five nieces, Melodye Culler Lewis, Meric Pijot Reaves, Lisa Abbott Beeman, Andrea Abbott Ray, and Jenny Abbott Toney.

Along with his parents he was greeted at the Gates of Heaven by his son, David Michael Abbott and his sister ,Betty Abbott Coleman.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. David Henderson and David Bamberger of Cardiology Associates of Daytona Beach and Vitas End of Life Care.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Disabled Veterans Foundation of Florida.

A Graveside service will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016, 11:00AM at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens, 511 Old Kings Rd. South, Flagler Beach, FL.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, Memorial Gardens and Crematory.
