Edna I. Alex 


Edna I. Alex, 72, of Palm Coast, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at her home with her family by her side. Edna was born in Puerto Rico in 1944.  

Edna had a Masters Degree in Social Work with a Gerontology Certification. She was the first graduate of this program from her university to earn a minor in music, and to be accepted by a prestigious national music sorority. She supervised a County program, Adult Protective Services, taught in two universities, and was instrumental in the start-up, and, managing an Adult Medical Services Day-Care facility. Edna was a member of Temple Beth Shalom-Palm Coast.  

Edna is survived by her husband of 51 years Robert Alex; sons, Joshua Alex, Eliott Alex, and Kevin Alex; brother, Edwin Rivera, and sister Sonia Balisnomo.  

She was known as a "Trailblazer" who was an outstanding advocate, who assisted legislators in establishing new programs and amending existing programs for seniors. She literally touched tens of thousands of lives during her professional career.  

Funeral services will be held at Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road, South, Flagler Beach, FL. Family will receive friends at 10:30 AM, until service time at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Craig-Flagler Palm Funeral Home.  

In memory of Edna the family requests donations to Temple Beth Shalom, 40 Wellington Dr., Palm Coast, FL 32164 and St.Jude's Children's Hospital.  

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Craig-Flagler Funeral Home.
