Joseph Lowell "Jack" Anderson Sr., 70, of Palm Coast, entered the sunset of life on the evening of Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, at Florida Hospital Flagler in Palm Coast following a brief illness.
He was a native of Manhattan, New York, born Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1937, to the union of Emily and Joseph Jonathan Anderson. At an early age, he accepted Christ, served diligently at the Church of the Open Door in Brooklyn, N.Y., and later joined Brooks Memorial Methodist Church in South Ozone Park, N.Y.
On Aug. 3, 1957, Joseph married his soul mate for life, the former Glenda D. Wilson, and to this union, three children were born: Joseph Jr., Chanda and Celeste.
Joseph graduated from Boy's High School in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was a Marine Corps reservist who joined the New York/New Jersey Port Authority Police Department in 1960. As a police officer, he was assigned to various facilities and he achieved the rank of Detective. In 1994, following 34 years of diligent service, Joseph and his wife, Glenda, retired to Palm Coast. Joseph, affectionately known as "Jack," enjoyed fishing, swimming, traveling and spending time with his loving family, especially his grandchildren.
To cherish his memories: devoted and loyal wife of 50 years, Glenda D. Anderson; son, Joseph (Andrea) Anderson, St. Augustine; daughters, Chanda (Kristian) Palmer and Celeste (Jonathan) Maye, both of Stone Mountain, Ga.; brother, Kenneth (Hilda) Anderson, Elmont, N.Y.; sisters, Joan (Charles) Thompson, Palm Coast, and Gwendolyn Alford, Stone Mountain, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Dominique, Kristian Palmer, Jr., Joseph Anderson, III, Jonathan Maye Jr., Chantel, Shannon and Skyla; one great grandson, Covey; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be Saturday, Nov. 24, from 10 a.m. until time of services at First A.M.E. Church of Palm Coast, 91 Old Kings Road, North. Homegoing Service will be Saturday at noon with the Rev. Gillard S. Glover, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens, Flagler Beach.
