Graveside services for Wilhelmina Ashley, 108, Palm Coast, FL, formerly of Mt. Vernon, NY, who passed away peacefully at Grand Oaks Health & Rehabilitation on Friday morning, July 24, 2009, will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens, 511 Old Kings Rd. S., Flagler Beach, FL.
Wilhelmina was born on May 31, 1901 in Manchester, Jamaica. She migrated to the U.S. in 1970. She lived in Mt. Vernon, NY where she attended Vernon Heights Congregational Church.
In 1992, she relocated to Florida where she resided with her son in Palm Coast. She loved singing, gardening, sewing, and encouraging others.
She is survived by her son, Raphael (Madgerine) Dennis; nieces, Hortense Rankin and Rosa Doig, Palm Bay; niece, Gwen (Norman) Clarke, London, England; nephew, Oscar (Theresa) Dennis, London, England; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, grandnieces, grandnephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilberforce and her son, Joseph.
Arrangements are in the care and trust of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home.
