Funeral Mass celebrating the life of Dorothy A. Avagliano, 87, of Palm Coast, who passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Florida Hospital Flagler, will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at 11:00 am at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 4600 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 form 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Rd. S., Flagler Beach. Her family will also receive friends on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in the Memorial Room of the church. Entombment will follow the Mass at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens, Flagler Beach.

She was born on August 8, 1921 in Hoboken, NJ to the late Henry and Florence (Zanelli) Martens. Dorothy, who worked as an Office Worker, was a member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, the Mother Seton Guild, the VFW Auxiliary, the D.A.V. Auxiliary, the Friends of the Library, A.R.C., and the Knights of Columbus. She moved to Palm Coast in 1980, coming from Ridgewood, NJ. Dorothy enjoyed playing Bingo, watching TV Land, cooking, and volunteer work.

She is survived by her daughter, Charlene M. Carlson of Palm Coast. Additional survivors include her 2 sisters, Mildred Ferdo of Ridgewood, NJ and Jean Rossano of Mahwah, NJ; her brother, Richard Martens of Ridgewood, NJ; her 4 grandchildren, Laura, Lindsay, and Kelsey Avagliano, all of Las Vegas, NV; and Chelsea Carlson of Palm Coast; her 3 nieces, Felice Underwood of California, and Terri Gallagher and Carol Ann Gallagher, both of New Jersey; and her daughter-in-law, Andrea Avagliano of Las Vegas, NV.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Matthew S. Avagliano, and her son, Matthew F. Avagliano. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Dorothy to the Pime Missionaries, 17330 Quincy St., Detroit, MI or to the St. Judes Childrens Hospital, Attn: Office of Gift Planning, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
