Mrs. Luna Babbitt, wife of James Arthur Babbitt, Sr., of Flagler Beach, passed away early Tuesday morning at the family residence, 211 Ninth St., after an illness of several months.
She was a member of one of Flagler County’s pioneer families and is the daughter of George Moody, Sr., of Flagler Beach.
Mrs. Babbitt was born in Bunnell on February 25, 1907. Following her marriage, she and her husband resided in Augusta, Ga., 18 years; moving to Flagler Beach in 1944.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Flagler Beach, and had served as organist of the church for a number of years. She was a member of the Eastern Star and served one term as a member of the Board of School Trustees for Flagler County. She was correspondent for The Tribune for several years.
Surviving are her husband, James Arthur Babbitt, Sr., of Flagler Beach; two daughters, Mrs. Leonard Johnson and Mrs. Judson Stryker, Jr., of Flagler Beach; two sons, Lt. Com. James A. Babbitt, Jr., stationed with the U. S. Navy in Washington, D. C.; and William M. Babbitt of Flagler; Beach; her father, George Moody, Sr., Flagler Beach; one sister, Mrs. M. B. Fuller, Bunnell; three brothers, George M. Moody and Leonard Moody of Flagler Beach, and I. I. Moody of Lake City.
Also surviving are nine grand children and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held from the First Methodist Church of Bunnell at 10 o'clock Friday morning. Rev. Atlee Stevens, pastor of the First Baptist Church of F1agler Beach, will officiate with Rev. W. L. Spicer, Jr., pastor of the First Methodist Church of Bunnell, assisting. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Craig Funeral Chapel from 5 o'clock Thursday afternoon to 8 o'clock Friday morning and at the church from 9 o'clock until the funeral hour.
Craig Funeral Home of Bunnell is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be T. K. McKnight, A. O. Brantley, Shelton Brooks, John A. Clegg, Walter Morris and Bill Chimpky.
