Dolores W. Baker



A graveside service for Dolores W. Baker, 79, of Palm Coast, will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2012, 11:30AM at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens in Flagler Beach Dolores passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach.

She was born on May 9, 1932 in New York City to the late Althear Wilson and Julia Robinson Rhodes . She and her husband George met in 1947 when George was playing ball in the street and split his pants. She had a needle. They were child hood sweethearts at the ages of 14 (Dolores) and 17 (George) and married Aug. 2, 1953 in St. Thomas Catholic Church, NY.

Dolores was a retired federal employee, serving on the Selective Service draft board for 22 years and Social Security Administration (hearing and appeals) for 19 years. They retired in 1991 and moved to the Palm Coast area in 1992. She enjoyed exercising, cruising and annual trips to New York City and Las Vegas.

Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years George, sister, Geraldine Mackey of Bronx, NY; niece, Denise Dolores Mackey Clay of Bronx, NY; cousin, Debbie Robinson of Jacksonville, FL. her beloved doggie, Chester and many other relatives and friends.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Mayo Clinic Alzheimer’s Research.
