A Graveside Service for George A. Baker 84, of Palm Coast will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, 12:00PM at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens.
George passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Florida Hospital Flagler. He was born on December 30, 1929 in New York City to the late Samuel J. and Margaret Baker (Derling).
George served in the US Army for several years and was discharged in 1958. He and his wife Dolores met in 1947 when he was playing ball in the street and split his pants. Dolores had a needle. They were childhood sweethearts at the ages of 14 (Dolores) and 17 (George) and were married Aug. 2, 1953 in St. Thomas Catholic Church, NY. George was employed by Columbia University, New York City, for 43 years.
They retired in 1991 and moved to Palm Coast in 1992 from Queens, NY/St. Albans, NY. His hobbies included fishing, boating and working on the computer. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dolores W. Baker in 2012.
Survivors include his niece, Denise and her husband Charles Clay of Bronx, NY and their son, Tyrell; cousin, Deborah Robinson of Jacksonville, FL and many other relatives and cherished friends.
Services are in the care and trust of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home.
