John E. "Pete" Barber, 76, 111 N. Anderson St., an accountant with Hooper Thoroughbred Horse Farms, Ocala, before his retirement, died Aug. 11 at Coastal Communities Hospital.

Mr. Barber was born here and had lived in various cities before returning in 1979 from Ocala. He was an Army veteran of World War II with the Eighth Air Force and served in the European Theater. He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Montgomery, Ala., and was a member of the Bunnell First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Claude G. Varn, St. Augu­tine, and Audrey McKnight, Flagler Beach.
