Mr. Jeffrey W. Bassett, age 51, of Marion, NC and Flagler Beach, FL, passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC as the result of a tragic automobile accident. A native of Bridgeport, CT, he was born on August 18, 1958 to the late Raymond Irving Bassett II and Lucille Rachel Wilkes of Flagler Beach, FL.
Mr. Bassett was licensed as a real estate broker in North Carolina and was the co-owner of Exit Realty in McDowell County, NC. He was an avid gardener and a self-taught violin player. He also loved animals and was an amateur scientist with an emphasis on outer space.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Cynthia White Bassett of the home; a daughter, Kachina Starr and her husband Richard of Palm Coast, FL; a sister, Liz Eunice of Orlando, FL; two brothers, Raymond Bassett III of Flagler Beach and Douglas Bassett of Holly Hill, FL; a grandson, Johnathan Starr; two nephews, Raymond Bassett IV and Austin Eunice; and four nieces, Carly and Erin Bassett, Ashley Eunice, and Rebecca Radcliff.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens, 511 Old Kings Rd. S., Flagler Beach.
The family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Lewis Rathbun Wellness Center at 121 Sherwood Road, Asheville, NC 28803-2426.
