Hazen Miller Benson, Bunnell postmaster for the past 10 years, died suddenly about seven o'clock Saturday evening at his home on Howe St. from a heart attack.

Mr. Benson, 57, was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George R. Benson of Bunnell. He was a native of Michigan but had resided in Bunnell for about 25 years. He was engaged in the farming business in the Haw Creek section for several years, and was appointed to fill two years of the unexpired term of the superintendent of public instruction in 1945.

He was active in the American Legion, being one of the charter members of Flagler Post 115. He was also active in the Bunnell Masonic Lodge No. 200, and also the Eastern Star Chapter No. 93.
He was a member of the Mother Church of the First Church of Christ Scientists of Boston.

Funeral services were held at the Bunnell Methodist Church at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning with Robert Schutte, First Reader of First Church Scientists of Daytona Beach officiating. He was assisted in the burial by Flagler Post of the American Legion, Bunnell Masonic Lodge No. 200.

Burial was in Hope Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under direction of Haigh and Brooks of Daytona Beach.

Pallbearers were O. F. Alford, Duane Deen, C. O. Magee, J. B. Matherly, T. K. McKnight and Raymond Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hazel Benson, Bunnell; one sister, Mrs. Helen M. Marsh, Bunnell; and one brother, J. Harry Benson of Tampa. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
