A funeral mass celebrating the life of Mary Bentley, 85, of Palm Coast, will be held on Monday, October 31, 2011 at Holy Dormition Byzantine Catholic Church in Ormond Beach. Friends may visit on Sunday, October 30, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00PM in the chapel of Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home, Flagler Beach. Interment will follow the mass at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens.
Mary passed away on Friday, October 21, 2011 at Grand Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on October 6, 1926 in Binghamton, NY to the late William and Eva Kosik (Priplet). In 1988 she and her husband moved to the Palm Coast area from Binghamton, NY, after retiring as a secretary for the certified public accountant firm of Johnson, Savidge and Vieira.
Her memberships included the Holy Dormition Byzantine Catholic Church in Ormond Beach, the VFW 8696 Ladies Auxiliary, and Palm Coast Garden Club.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years Douglas L. Bentley, Sr.; son, Col. Douglas L. Bentley, Jr., US Army; daughter-in-law, Melissa Bentley; grandson, Douglas L. Bentley III; granddaughter, Katherine Bentley; sister, Lillian Pochily and her husband Bernard; and many other family members.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society or Vitas Hospice.
Services are in the care and trust of Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home.
