FORMER BUNNELL MAYOR LEVI BRANNAM DIES

BUNNELL - Levi L. Brannam, 78, of East Moody Boulevard, a former mayor of Bunnell, died Thursday at home.
Mr. Brannam was born in Lyons, Ga., and came here in 1953 from Daytona Beach. He and his wife, Melba, who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in May, were the former owners of Brannam's Food Market from 1953 to 1972.
The last elected justice of the peace of Flagler County, Mr. Brannam served as mayor of Bunnell during the early 1960s and was active in several organizations including: Morocco Temple Shrine, where he was a life member and served as an ambassador at large; Bunnell Masonic Lodge 200, where he was a past master; Grand Lodge F&AM of Florida; Jim Booe Chapter 86 of the Disabled American Veterans, where he was a life member; and American Legion Post 115, where he served as past commander.
Mr. Brannam also was a member of Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 1, the Scottish Rite, First Baptist Church and was past president of both the Halifax Area High Five and the Flagler County Shrine Club. He was active with the Flagler County Council on Aging, having served as treasurer and on its board of directors.
Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, Levi Jr., Broomfield, Colo., and James Alan, Springfield, Va.; two daughters, Nancy S. Maturo, Vienna, Va., and Mary Susan Wilson, Palatka; and 10 grandchildren.
