A memorial service celebrating the life of Scovel “Skip” M. Carlson, 89, of Ormond Beach, FL. will be held on Saturday October 13, 2012, 11:00AM at the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Palm Coast. Skip passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at his home.
He was born on October 23, 1922 in McKeesport, PA to the late William Gustav and Elizabeth Annie Carlson (McMillen).
He proudly served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a business partner in Roger Keith and Sons insurance Agency in Brockton, MA.
After his retirement in 1989 he moved to the Ormond Beach, FL. area from Sandwich, MA. His memberships included being a very active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Palm Coast, Westminster College Alumni Assoc, Pilot Assoc, Past Rotary Club President, Mason (Rural Lodge Quincy, MA.), Flagler Airport Advisory Board, Flagler County Economic Development Board, Halifax Plantation Golf Assoc, WWII Glider Pilot Assoc, Aero Club of FL.
Skip was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Ann Beer to whom he was married to for 46 years; sister, Mary Lois Davis, brother, William Carlson.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, June; daughters, Sue Churchill from Bridgewater, MA; Judith Chase of Melbourne Beach, FL; sons, Edwin Carlson of Tampa, FL; Robert Carlson of Charlotte, NC; sister, Betty Jane Bower of Marietta, OH; step-children, David D. Galster of Watertown, NY; Roderick P. Galster of Watertown, NY; Julie DuBois of Rochester, NY; 7 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
