Norman E. Carter, mayor of Flagler Beach, died Wednesday morning at his home there from a heart attack.
He suffered a serious heart attack a few months ago and was a patient in a Daytona Beach hospital several weeks before recovering sufficiently to be returned to his home.
He was born in Pennsylvania but went to Indianapolis, Ind., where he made his home before coming to Flagler Beach eight years ago.
He was a lawyer by profession, having received his law degree from Valparaiso College when a young man, afterwards practicing law in the Indiana courts.
He held membership in the fraternal societies of Masons and Knights of Pythias.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Helen Carter and one brother, R. F. Carter of Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Definite funeral arrangements have not been completed, but tentative arrangements are that services will be held in the Flagler Beach Baptist Church and burial to be at Hope Cemetery next Sunday.
Active pallbearers are: John C. Rice, S. L. Nickell, George Wickline, R. R. Mosby, C. M. Miller, James Croscin and Lewis Wadsworth.
Honorary pallbearers are E. E. Owens, Frank Croscin, Carl Hendren, Joseph Moore, J. J. Miller, A. A. Root, Tom Bruner, Brady Wadsworth, E. R. Dow, V. W. Haines, K. K. Knight and Henry Wells.
