Meridian Casis

Meridian (Mae) Casis née Caasi, 80, of Palm Coast, Florida passed away on Friday, September 22, 2017. Mae was born July 3, 1937 in the Philippines to the late Honorable Urbano and Victora Caasi. She was the youngest of three children, preceded in death by her sister Prediliction and survived by her brother, Urbano Jr. (Ting).

Mae married Dr. Rolando C. Casis in 1965 and six children were born from this union. The young couple and their three eldest daughters immigrated from the Philippines to Chicago, Illinois in 1969, had three more kids and raised the family in South Barrington, IL until their retirement to Florida.

Mae was the Filipino version of Martha Stuart. She was creative, a great cook, hostess, an amazing organizer who could sew and make anything; give her a project and it would be done to perfection. She was generous with her time and worked with various charities, community organizations and medical missions both in the U.S. and in the Philippines. She was a devoted mother, avid gardener and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends in the Filipino community.

To cherish her loving memory, Mae leaves her devoted husband Rolando of 52 years and six children. Daughters Myra Casis; Liza Casis; Sophia (Eric) Uhl; Dr. Joyce Casis; Ann Marie (Damian) Neville; Son, Joseph Rolando Casis; four grandchildren, Peyton and Austin Uhl; Deaglan and Ariya Neville and many nieces, nephews, friends and family.

The Wake will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach, Florida. Family and friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 29, 2017 followed by a 10:30 a.m. funeral mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 4600 Belle Terre Parkway in Palm Coast, Florida. Funeral Procession and Burial will begin immediately after mass at Craig Flagler Palms Cemetery, 511 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Meridian Casis, may be made to the Philippine American Association of Palm Coast (PAAPC) for victims of Hurricane IRMA in Florida and Puerto Rico, c/o the Casis Family, 12 Via Salerno, Palm Coast, FL 32137.
