PALM COAST - William E. Catania, 87, of Blaine Drive, a retired linotype operator for the Rapid Service and the Boston Globe, died Friday at Memorial Hospital-Flagler, Bunnell. 

Mr. Catania was born in Chelsea, Mass., and moved here in 1979 from Malden, Mass. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, St. Augustine, Knights of Columbus, the Palm Coast Italian American Social Club, Palm Coast Civic Association, AARP and the National and Boston typographical unions. 

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Santa; a son, William, Chelmsford, Mass.; three brothers, Joseph, East Boston, Mass., Guido, Silver Spring, Md., and Vincent, North Billerica, Mass.; a sister, Mafalda Paredes, Chelmsford; and three grandchildren.
