Celebration of the loving, dedicated life of our dear Dorothy L. "Dottie" Chesnut, who passed away Monday, July 24, 2006, at home with her family by her side, will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 28, in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Bunnell, 301 E. Moody Blvd. The Rev. Mike Saunders will conduct the meaningful service. Visitation is today (Thursday, July 27) from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Rd. South, Flagler Beach.

A native of Boston, Mass., Dottie married John "Jack" Russell Jr. in 1952, and moved to Palm Coast in October 1974. In March 1975, Mr. Russell died. In 1978, Dottie married Malcolm Ray Chesnut, and they moved to Bunnell in 1992. Mr. Chesnut died in 2002. Dottie sang in the choir of First Baptist Church of Bunnell, was a member of the church banner committee and enjoyed crocheting, shopping with her friends and traveling.

Thankful for her presence in their lives and mourning Dottie's passing are her daughters, Cheryl Buck (Rich), Palm Coast, Connie Thurmond (Oliver), The Woodlands, Texas, and Signa Miles (Jerry), Morton, Miss.; sons, John H. Russell III (Sally), St. Augustine, and Ronnie Chesnut (Cindy), Cross City; sisters, Barbara Tynan, South Yarmouth, Mass., and Susan Hill, Palm Coast; brothers, Bill Newman, Duxburg, Mass., Allen Wittenburg, Chichester, N.H., and Tom Wittenburg, Center Barnestead, N.H.; granddaughter, Molly Russell; 14 nieces and nephews; several step-grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of Volusia/Falgler County, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129, or Building Fund of First Baptist Church of Bunnell.
