The Angels were all singing as William R. Collier, 85, of Clark Lane, Palm Coast, was welcomed through the gates of Heaven on July 8, 2006.

Mr. Collier, a decorated World War II veteran and former prisoner of war, was born January 20, 1921, and raised in Uniontown, Pa. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. degree. Following graduation, he moved to Rockville, Md., where he enjoyed an exemplary career as a supervisor and administrator of the Department of the Army Mapping Services.

In April 1972 he retired to Palm Coast, as the eighteenth family of the new I.T.T. development.

Mr. Collier was an avid tennis player, who, for many years, was an instructor in Palm Coast. Bill also enjoyed golf and biked every day, often riding local roads and trails in the very early hours of the day. He also loved gardening. Mr. Collier was active in many churches, serving as a deacon.

He was instrumental in helping to start and develop the First Baptist Church of Palm Coast.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Bernadette; two sons, William, Deltona, Fla., and Russell, Palm Coast; daughter, Sally, Tuscumbia, Ala.; grandchildren, Stacey, Bobby, Matt, and Andrew; two brothers, Ed, Tempe, Ariz., and June, Uniontown, Pa.

He was predeceased by his son, Robert, and his sisters, Elizabeth and Thelma.

All who knew and loved Bill are invited to a celebration of his life planned for Friday, July 14, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Palm Coast, 6050 Palm Coast Parkway N.W.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Palm Coast.

PALM COAST - William R.  Collier,  85,  of  Clark  Lane,  a  former  supervisor  and  administrator  for  the  Dept.  of  the  Army  Mapping  Services,  died  Saturday  at  Florida  Hospital  Flagler.

Mr.  Collier,  an  Army  Air  Forces  veteran  of  World  War  II,  and  former  prisoner  of  war,  was  born  in  Uniontown,  Pa.  He  received  his  bachelor's  degree  in  science  from  the  University  of  Pittsburgh. 

He  .helped  start  and  develop  the  First  Baptist  Church  of  Palm  Coast.  Mr. Collier  and  his  family  was  the  18th  family  to  live  in  the  I.T.T. devel­opment. 

He  was  an·  avid  tennis  player  and  was  an  instructor  in  Palm  Coast.  He also enjoyed golf, biking and gardening.
