Funeral services for George E. Conway, 86, of Palm Coast, who passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at his residence, will be held on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 11:00 am at the St. Paul AME Church, 85 M L King Ave., St. Augustine, FL 32084. His family will receive friends on Friday February 26, 2010 from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am service time at the church. Burial will follow the service at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens, Flagler Beach.

George was born on November 30, 1923 in Thomasville, GA to the late James and Mary (Glenn) Conway. He served in the United States Army and was a WWII Veteran. George retired from Gamsey Co., as a Truck Driver. He was a Civil Rights Icon, and he was a member of the 40th Accord Inc., and the St. Paul AME Church in St. Augustine.  George was a social, outgoing person who enjoyed playing cards and being with his friends. He moved to Palm Coast in 2001, coming from St. Augustine.

George is survived by his 3 sons, Purcell Conway of Palm Coast; George Conway Jr. of Palm Coast; and Jerome Conway of St. Augustine. Additional survivors include his 9 grandchildren and his 24 great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of George to the St. Paul AME Church, 85 M. L. King Ave., St. Augustine, FL 32084.
