Cooley, 89, of Palm Coast, FL, will be celebrated on Thursday, March 17, 2011 11:00 AM at Shepherd of the Coast Lutheran Church, 101 Pine Lakes Parkway, Palm Coast, with the Rev. William Douthwaite officiating. Burial will follow at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM until time of the service at the church.

Izola passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Grand Oaks Nursing Home in Palm Coast. She was born on March 5, 1922 in Mathis, TX to the late Walter W. and Hilda Laechelin (Becker).

In 2001 she moved to the Palm Coast area from Falls Church, VA. She was a member of the Flagler County Art League, Gideon's International, a 20 year member of the Flagler County Orchid Society and Shepherd of the Coast Lutheran Church where she belonged to the Bell Choir. She liked to travel and as a Navy wife she had lived and traveled worldwide.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2005, Retired Rear Admiral Samuel Morton Cooley Jr.

Survivors include her niece, Barbara Ann Lemon of Sinton, TX; nephew, Charles Schlinke of Spring Branch, TX; and a host of close friends and relatives. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Donations in her memory may be made to Shepherd of the Coast Lutheran Church or Gideons International.

Services are in the care and trust of Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home.
