Helen Margaret Cretella, 90, of Palm Coast, died Friday, March 28, 2014 at Halifax Hospice in Edgewater. Mrs. Cretella was born March 20, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY., a daughter of William and Helen McCarthy Dexter.

She and her husband resided in South Ozone Park, NY., and moved to Palm Coast in 1989. Mrs. Cretella was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. Helen and her husband had worked for many years as C.O.P.S with the Flagler County Sheriffs Office. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, crocheting, and stitching.

Her husband, Annello Cretella, whom she married March 18, 1944, died June 30, 1999.

She is survived by one son, Alfred (Catherine) Cretella, of Linden-hurst, NY; three daughters, Helen (John) Ras of Elmont, NY., Elizabeth (Roland Robidoux) Cretella of Edgewater, and Clare (Drew) Madigan of Westerly, RI., eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Dexter.

Family and friends will be received Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 3:00-7:00 PM at Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road South in Flagler Beach.

Mass is Christian Burial will be Monday, March 31, 2014, at 11:00 am at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 2400 E. Highway 100, Bunnell, FL 32110. Entombment will follow at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens.
