PALM COAST - Matteo "Mike" Cuni, 79, of Faith Lane, a retired firefighting pump engineer in Bridgeport, Conn., died Sunday at Memorial Hospital-Ormond Beach.
Mr. Cuni, an Army veteran of World War II who served in the Pacific Theater, came here in 1976 from his native Bridgeport. He was a member of Santa Maria Del Mar Catholic Church and the Italian- American Club and Florida Federation of Italian-American Clubs, serving as president of the latter two. He also was a commander of a Veterans of Foreign Wars post and a third-degree Knight of Columbus at Notre Dame Post 10514. He enjoyed singing.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Carmela; two sons, Frank, Coventry, Conn., and Michael, Flagler Beach; a daughter, Patricia Micari, Tolland, Conn.; a brother, Anthony, Long Island, N.Y.; two sisters, Agnes Norcia, St. Louis, and Josephine Narge, Long Island, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
