Edith “Ede” Leggiadro DePaul
Edith DePaul (Leggiadro) passed away at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House Saturday, July 23, 2011, in Palm Coast, Florida.
Ede was born on September 26, 1919 in Manhattan, New York City to Elvira Riso and Rocco Leggiadro. While still a young child her family relocated from the lower eastside of Manhattan to Staten Island, New York where her father Rocco was proprietor of the local hardware store. She graduated from Curtis High School.
In 1946 she married Philip C. DePaul. Ede and Phil lived and raised their family on Staten Island until their retirement in 1985, when they moved to Palm Coast, Florida. Ede was an active member of the Palm Coast Italian-American Club, a long-time dedicated volunteer at public schools and hospitals in both Staten Island and in Palm Coast and an avid fan of all sports.
She is survived by her loving husband Philip, son Chris (Pat) of Palm Coast, FL, daughter Roxanne (Jim) of Madison, WI and son Rodney (Donna) of Staten Island, NY, her elder brother Paul (Rose) Leggiadro of Staten Island, NY, grandchildren Philip DePaul (Massapequa, NY), William Abbs (Philadelphia, PA), Mark DePaul (Houston, TX), Matthew DePaul (Palm Coast, FL), Kristen DePaul (Staten Island, NY), Elizabeth Abbs (Madison, WI), as well as sisters-in-law Gloria Scaglione, Nancy Leggiadro, Peggy Leggiadro, brother-in-law Dominic (Hazel) DePaola and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her dear twin sister Florence, her beloved brothers George, Robert, and sister Josephine.
