Maria Herminia Dias 74, of Palm Coast passed away peacefully on June 8, 2019 at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House. She was born on October 1, 1944 in Aveiro, Portugal to the late Sebastiao and Evangelina da Silva (Nunes).
In 1971 she emigrated to Elizabeth, New Jersey where she raised her family and operated a family run laundromat. In 2015 she and her husband moved to the Palm Coast area. Maria was a member of the Portuguese American Cultural Club in Palm Coast. She enjoyed gardening especially her orchids, going to the beach where she would collect sea shells, baking as she was known for her Portuguese Pound Cake where it was always a special request by her grandchildren who called it “Grandmas’ Cake”. Her greatest love in life was being with her loving family.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Manuel Dias; children, Eduardo (Maria) Dias, Manuel (Maria) Dias, Jose (Liliana) Dias; grandchildren, Andre Dias, Miguel Dias, Emmanuel Dias, Brandon Dias and David Dias, Ethan Dias; great-grandbaby, Noah Dias; brother, Hermino da Silva, Manuel da Silva; sister, Fernanda da Silva and many more loving relatives and friends.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Leukemia Research Foundation. Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, June 12th from 3:00-7:00PM at the Chapel of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 13, 11:00AM at Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church, 919 N. Central Ave Flagler Beach. Entombment to follow at Flagler Memorial Gardens.
