Rev. Silverio DiFazio, also known as Father Sal, 76 of Ormond Beach, passed away peacefully at his home June 26, 2023.
He was born June 28, 1946 in Ponza, Italy, the son of Mario and Renata Florenti DiFazio.
He emigrated in the United States at the age of 16, settling in New York. Sal worked in the furniture business as well in the grocery business. After his wife passed away in 2005, he entered seminary and was ordained a priest in 2008. He served as pastor of Christ the King Church and St. Paul Riverside both in Jacksonville. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling the world and cooking.
His wife, Michelle passed away in 2005
Father Sal is survived by his daughter, Karen Karas; two grandchildren Jacob and Alana Karas; three siblings, Anna (Vincenzo) Costanzo, Louis (Rose) DiFazio, and Rosita (Silvio) Pacifico; and two brother in laws, Cesare (Lydia) and Lucia (Giovanni), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Monday, July 3rd at Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church, where a vigil service will be at 7:00 PM. Mass for Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 5th at Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Flagler Memorial Gardens.
