PALM COAST - Sam A. Florio, 73, of Lakeview Lane, who retired as president and chief executive officer of Allied Chemical in Decatur, Ala., died Tuesday at home. 

Mr. Florio, an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, was born in Woodville, Ohio. He was a graduate of Oberlin University with a degree in engineering. He moved to this area in 1998 from Decatur. He was a member of Grand Haven Country Club. Mr. Florio enjoyed golf. 

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Shirley; a son, Timothy, and two daughters, Desiree Lemoine and Cynthia Florio, all of Palm Coast; a brother, Joe, Freemont, Ohio; two sisters, Rose Rahman, Homosassa, and Mary Gottschalk, Woodville; and two grandchildren.
