Dolores Anne Gajan
JULY 1, 1936 – FEBRUARY 20, 2023
Dolores Anne Gajan, of Oceanside, New York, devoted wife of the late Victor, mother of John (sp. Tammy) and Katherine (sp. John) Stewart, passed away on February 20th after a brief illness.
Dolores (Do, Dee, Dodi) grew up Dolores Holland in Shrub Oak, New York, daughter of the late Harold and Dolores Holland; the middle child of five siblings.
She was preceded in death by brother James and sister Gertrude (Gerry) Redlefsen and is survived by sister Judith (Judy) Lane and brother Donald.
After graduating high school, she went to nursing school and became a pediatric nurse. She married the love of her life, Victor, in 1959 and they made a home in Oceanside, New York for 40 years. During that time, they shared many happy years vacationing in their “summer-place” in Indian Lake, NY.
After Vic’s retirement in 2000, Dolores followed siblings James, Don, and Judy to Palm Coast, FL. where they lived happily until his passing in 2019. An avid gardener, she loved planting and working outside in her yard. Dolores moved back to Oceanside and spent her last years enjoying her life with daughter and son-in-law.
Dolores was a dog-lover, a dog-whisperer in fact, and she will rejoin her beloved Tiny and be missed greatly by Marley and Maggie. As a Nana, a Mimi, and Dee-Dee, she is survived by Rachael Gajan, Julia Jacoby and Justin Wimpey, Zach Stewart, Ashley and Brendan Durkee, and Liam Stewart.
