It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Victor (Vic) Gajan. Vic died peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2019 in Palm Coast with his family by his side.
Born to Matilda and John Gajan, in Bronx, N.Y., on March 8, 1933. He called Oceanside, N.Y. his home for over 35 years and moved to Palm Coast in 1998. He was an avid outdoorsman with a special affinity for the Adirondack Mountains and enjoyed many happy years with family and friends living seasonally in Indian Lake, N.Y. - his beloved “summer place”.
By age of 18, Vic had joined the NYFD leading a 40 year career as an industrial firefighter with Sperry Rand (Unisys) Corp., from which he retired in 2000. He was a volunteer member of the Indian Lake (N.Y.) FD and for the last 20 years he has been an associate supporting the City of Palm Coast Fire Department. He was a past-president of the Nassau County (N.Y.) Fish & Game Association. He is remembered by his brothers in the Knights of Columbus, in which he held the 4th degree. Vic Loved people and those who met him were always met with a hearty handshake and a joke or story!
Vic is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Dolores. He also leaves behind his son, John, daughter-in-law, Tammy, and granddaughter, Rachel of Danville, CA; his daughter Katherine Stewart, son-in-law, John Stewart, grandchildren Ashley and Zach, and great-grandson Liam of Oceanside, NY. He was a Special Poppy to Julia Jacoby and her husband Justin Wimpey.
