A funeral service celebrating the life of Julia Gil, 83, of Bunnell will be celebrated on Sunday, October 24, 2010, 1:00 PM in the chapel of Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home 511 Old Kings Rd. S. Flagler Beach. Friends may visit on Sunday from 12:00 PM until time of the service. Interment to follow service at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens.
Julia passed away on Friday, October 22, 2010 at Florida Hospital Flagler. She was born October 12, 1927 in Salinas, Puerto Rico. Julia was the head nurse in the operating room at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York for 20 years. She was a very athletic woman who ran the NY Marathon five times. Julia was known for being an independent hardworking woman who was generous and caring.
Survivors include her daughter, Nivea San Miguel of Puerto Rico, sisters, Virgenmina Espada de Garcia of Salinas, Puerto Rico; Elsa Espada of Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico; brothers, Antonio Espada of Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico; Anibal Espada of Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico; Niece, Diana and her husband Ramon Figueroa of August, GA; grandchildren, Luis Valentin, Dalizza Valentin and Juan Carlos Valentin.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Services are in the care and trust of Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home.
