James Thomas Hardin, 70, retired Greyhound bus operator and fuel truck driver, entered the sunset of life Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, at Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House, Palm Coast.

He was born May 13, 1937, in Charlotte, N.C., to James E. and Ollie Gertrude (Meeks) Hardin. He was educated in the Mecklenburg County, N.C., School District and following his graduation he relocated to Staten Island, N.Y. He was a member of Shiloh A.M.E. Church of Staten Island. He was united in marriage to the former Lula Nesbitt on August 31, 1963. He was employed by Greyhound as a bus operator and by Coastal Fuel Company as a truck driver until his retirement in 1989. James enjoyed cultivating his own garden, listening to music and traveling. In 2004, the Hardin family moved to Palm Coast.

To cherish his memories, his beloved wife, Lula Nesbitt Hardin; sister and brother-in-­law, Marlene H. (Donald) Williams, Charlotte, N.C.; five aunts; mother-in-law, Mrs. Edmonia Haney, Spartanburg, S.C. and a host of other relatives and friends.

Viewing will commence one hour prior to service at the church. Celebration of James Hardin's life will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27 I at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 75 Pine Lakes Parkway, Palm Coast; Pastor Edwin Coffie officiating.

Interment will be in Craig Flagler Palms Memorial Garden.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Flagg-Serenity Memorial Chapel.
