PALM COAST - Elsie Mae Hawthorne, 77, of Boulder Rock Drive, a retired sales manager, died May 13 at home. 

Mrs. Hawthorne was born in Winston-Salem, N.C., and moved to this area in 1988 from Pasadena, Calif. She enjoyed bowling and playing scrabble and backgammon. 

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Arthur; a son, Weldon Blake, Daytona Beach; a daughter, Beverly Sheyka, Palm Coast; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Volusia County Cremation Society, Daytona Beach, is in charge.
