Funeral Mass celebrating the life of Donal Francis Patrick Hennessy, Colonel (U.S. Army Reserves, Retired) 87, of Bridgewater, Palm Drive, Flagler Beach, a resident for 16 years, who passed away on Monday, January 8, 2007, at the Grand Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center, will be held on Friday, January 12, 2007, at 10:30 a.m., at the Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church, 915 North Central Ave, Flagler Beach. Interment with Military Honors will follow the mass at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens, Flagler Beach.

His family will receive friends on Thursday, January 11, from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach.

Mr. Hennessy retired in 1979, after teaching Math for 25 years for the Jericho Public Schools in Long Island, N.Y. He was a WWII veteran and active in the U.S. Army Reserves for 30 years, rising to the rank of Full Colonel. He moved to this area in 1990, coming from Sea Cliff, N.Y. He was a world traveler for many years, having visited many exotic locations throughout the Globe. He enjoyed golfing, including his 2 holes-in-one, barbershop singing, the Opera and the Theatre. He was a voracious reader and etymologist and as his Math students said, "You speak better English than the English teacher does." He was a kind and generous man, who was known for his sense of humor and laughter. He loved life, lived it to the fullest and he truly had "A Wonderful Life".

He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Edna, mother of his children, and is survived by his loving second wife of 21 years, Roberta of Flagler Beach.

Additional survivors include his grandson, Nicholas, whom he raised as a son; his daughter, Dr. Robin of Charlotte, N.C.; his sons, Dr. Brian (wife Therese) ofDarien, CT, and Donal of Long Island, N.Y.; three grandsons, Brian, Donal and Jim of Darien, CT; one brother, Rev. Thomas Hennessy, SJ of Bronx, N.Y.; one sister, Eileen Weber of CT; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, John, PhD; Rev. James, SJ; Edward; and his sister Kathleen.

Arrangements are in the care and trust of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home.
